Bathukamma Festival Holiday on 20.10.2015 is declared by Telangana Govt. Telangana Govt has released G.O.Rt.No. 2824 Dated 19.10.2015 regarding Bathukamma Holiday on the 20th October 2015. Bathukamma celebrations were telecast LIVE from the Tank band, Hyderabad from 4pm on the 2nd of October 2014. Last year 2014, Telangana government has started a website exclusively for the Bathukamma festival/celebrations. Bathukamma official website is http://bathukamma.telangana.gov.in. People all over the world can watch LIVE celebrations from the official website.

3. Note from Chief Ministers Office Ref. No.365/PrlSCM/2015 dated: 19.10.2015
ORDER:
In the G.O. 1st read above, Government have issued orders declaring the General Holidays to the Government Offices for the year 2015.
2) In the letter 2nd read above, the Convener, Telangana Gazetted Officers Association has requested to declare holiday on the Occasion of Bathukamma Festival on 20.10.2015 (Tuesday).
3) The Government, after careful consideration of the matter, have decided to declare General Holiday on the occasion of Bathukammam Festival on 20.10.2015 (Tuesday). Accordingly, the following notification is issued and shall be published in the extra-ordinary Gazette of Telangana State:
NOTIFICATION
In partial modification of the orders issued in G.O.Rt.No.995, General Administration (Poll.A) Department, dated 05.11.2014, the Government hereby declare 20.10.2015 (Tuesday) as Public Holiday on the occasion of Bathukamma Festival.

Bathukamma is primarily a women’s festival. It begins on the day of Bhadrapada / Mahalaya Amavasya and concludes on Ashwayuja Ashtami, based on the lunar calendar. Bathukamma is an embodiment of the spirit of Telangana. The festival has become an important part of the cultural renaissance movement of Telangana and has now been accorded the State Festival status in the newly formed state.
